This sure fire 1st class HOFer, 5 time NBA world Champion, 7 times helped his team to the NBA Finals, 2 time Finals MVP, Former MVP, 2 time scoring champ, 4 time NBA all star MVP, also a 14 time All NBA and 12 time all Defensive teamer and the heart and soul of his LA Lakers is having his legacy tarnished. Instead of us, fans of Kobe Bean Bryant, crossing our fingers for Kobe to match his Benchmark, Jordan with his 6th title, we are occupied with the real possibility of this star heavy, 100 million dollar roster missing the playoffs entirely. Anything short of getting to the Finals would have been considered a disappointment in Laker land before the season started. I mention this because it emphasis just how far of a free fall this lakers team is currently suffering. With the only end in sight being complete utter disaster in the form of; Missing the playoffs, Dwight leaving, Gasol’s trade value staying at this all time low, and not replacing the travesty known as Mike no “D” Antoni, a large cloud of uncertainty surrounds the Lakers. I will always remain a laker fan, its engrained in me since i was a little boy. My idol wasn’t superman, Batman, or The Rock. It was an NBA player that i could feel his intense obsession to prove to the whole world that he was going to one up greatness itself (Michael Jordan). I saw my Idol win a Dunk Contest as a teenager, witnessed that same teenager be unfazed by falling short in Utah with 2 air balls, instead using his shortcomings to fuel him. I saw my idol rise and win 3 rings. I cried as he cried when our potential 4 peat was halted by the spurs. I witnessed him outscore a whole team by himself through 3 quarters 63 to 62 (mavs). I saw him score 81 points in one game. I saw him fall and i saw him rise back to the top and win 2 more rings as the unquestioned leader. For years my idol would shut down countless villains, hit hundreds of clutch shots. His brash arrogance, his unmatched intensity all rubbed people the wrong way because 5 NBA Championships wasn’t for everyone.While he should be chasing Championship number 6 and solidifying his spot among the top 5 to ever put on a NBA Jersey Jim Buss, Mike D Antoni, and even to a lesser extent, Dwight Howard, have all made this should be dream season, a nightmare.
